The Nanaimo Coal Miners intend to have better luck in the Interior this weekend than they did last weekend.

The men’s baseball team is entered into Kelowna’s Canada Baseball Blast tournament starting today (June 30).

The city’s Pacific International League team lost all four of its road games last weekend, as it fell 7-3 and 8-7 to the Kelowna Jays on Saturday and 4-3 and 18-4 versus the Kamloops Sun Devils on Sunday.

Jeff Vickers was Nanaimo’s best hitter on the weekend and other players who provided offence were Mike Jones, Donny MacQuarrie, Evan Olsen, Cole McKaig and Kris Small.

The Miners will have additional bodies in the lineup for the Blast tourney, including Greg Wallace, Jordan Blundell and Cody Phipps.
