Coach, players lead Team B.C. defence

Football B.C. announced the roster of its U16 all-star team last week and the defence will have a Nanaimo flavour.

Team B.C. probably won’t surrender many touchdowns at this summer’s Red River Cup.

The defence will have a distinct Nanaimo flavour after Football B.C. announced the roster of its U16 all-star team last week.

Three Nanaimo players made the cut – defensive back Brandon White, defensive lineman Carson Vos and linebacker Cory Fletcher.

“We are very pleased with the level of competition and improvement through the evaluation process,” said Nanaimo’s Sean Roden, the team’s coach. in a press release. “We believe that the combination of hungry and spirited players that have been selected to be part of U16 Team B.C., along with our accomplished coaching staff, position us well for success.”

Glenn Cook was recently added to the staff as D-line coach.

The Red River Cup takes place in Winnipeg from July 6-13. Aside from Team B.C., there will be two teams from the Winnipeg area and two from Saskatchewan.
