The Nanaimo Clippers are undefeated in December after a shutout win this past weekend.

The Clips beat the Chilliwack Chiefs 2-0 on Saturday on Teddy Bear Toss Night at Frank Crane Arena.

It wasn’t until late in the second period that Devin Brosseau scored the teddy bear goal, prompting fans to let fly with their donations for the Great Nanaimo Toy Drive.

Brendan Taylor iced the win with an empty-net goal in the third period and Tanner Kovacs earned the shutout in his first start with the Clips since being acquired late last month. Shots were 28-25 in favour of the home team.

Nanaimo is back in action tonight (Dec. 10) and faces a significant challenge as it heads down the Malahat to take on the Victoria Grizzlies. The Grizz have won all six meetings with the Clips this season, but the last one was a narrow 3-2 loss just 11 days ago that came with some positives.

“We knew we played well against Victoria in Victoria … We worked hard.” Brosseau said.

GAME ON … After tonight’s game against the Grizz, the Clips will prepare for a road trip that will see them visit Coquitlam, Surrey and Langley on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
