The Nanaimo Clippers are looking for a good start in 2017 and they have the right kind of schedule to make that happen.

The Shipmen begin January with three straight home games, starting with a midweek matchup tomorrow (Jan. 4) against the Victoria Grizzlies.

Nanaimo ended December by playing its last five games of the month on the road and won just one of those five contests.

The calendar year came to a close after the Clippers lost 4-1 to the Powell River Kings on Dec. 30 at Hap Parker Arena.

Jake Harris scored Nanaimo’s lone goal in that one during a power play early in the third period and Evan DeBrouwer suffered the loss in goal as shots ended up 33-28 in favour of the home team.

GAME ON … The Clippers and Grizzlies play Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. Nanaimo is also at home Friday (Jan. 6) for a matchup against the Cowichan Valley Capitals, also a 7 p.m. start time at Frank Crane. The Clips then host the Prince George Spruce Kings on Sunday at 2 p.m.
