The Nanaimo Clippers will be looking to take a bite out of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The Island rivals meet for the first time this season when they take the ice tonight (Sept. 30) at Frank Crane Arena. The last time the teams met in a meaningful hockey game was when the Clips eliminated the 'Dogs in a playoff Game 7 last winter.

"Both teams don't like each other very much," said Yanni Kaldis, Clippers defenceman. "We just have to try to score goals and just play hard."

Sheldon Rempal, Clippers forward, said his team is excited to take on the Bulldogs.

"It's always a good, hard-fought battle when we play that team. It's going to be a physical game, like per usual against that team," he said. "I know they're struggling a bit so hopefully we can jump on them."

GAME ON … The Clippers face the Bulldogs tonight at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. It's the start of a three-game homestand, as the Clips go on to face the Coquitlam Express on Friday at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena and face off against the Vernon Vipers on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Frank Crane.
