The Nanaimo Clippers announced last week their schedule of pre-season games to be played in August.

The team has five exhibitions this year before the season-opening B.C. Hockey League showcase weekend in Chilliwack.

The Clippers will start the pre-season Aug. 24 at Lake Cowichan Arena with an all-rookie game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals. On Aug. 27 the Clips will play the Caps at the same rink, then on Aug. 28 there will be a rubber match against the Capitals at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena. The exhibition schedule will continue Aug. 30 with a 7 p.m. game at Frank Crane against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, and there will be a rematch the next night at Port Alberni.

“This is always an exciting time for our fans to get back to the rink and get their late summer hockey fix,” said Jen Kennedy, the team’s marketing director, in a press release.
