The Nanaimo Clippers showed no quit in a narrow loss to the Powell River Kings on the weekend.
The teams met Saturday at Frank Crane Arena, with the Kings prevailing 4-3.
Nanaimo fell behind 3-0 in the contest, but made things interesting. Edwin Hookenson scored late in the second period to make it 3-1, then Matthew Hoover made it a one-goal game six and a half minutes into the third period. The Kings scored an empty-net goal with a minute and a half left, but the Clips again drew within one on a goal by Sheldon Rempal.
Jakob Walter tended goal for the Clippers and his team outshot the Kings 48-29. Rempal finished with a goal and two assists and Devin Brosseau had two helpers.
