There are a few different races throughout the year to determine who’s the fastest, and one of them is the Cedar 12K this Sunday (Feb. 10).

The third race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series is set to go that day at 11 a.m. from North Cedar Intermediate School on Gould Road.

The Bastion Running Club is hosting the race.

Online registration closes Wednesday, and then there will be race-day registration at a cost of $35, or $30 for students.

Rob Reid, series sponsor, praised event volunteers and urges runners to do their best on race day.

“Word of advice: don’t slow down when you hit the grassy field,” he said. “Run like a Kenyan to the finish.”

Bastion club athletes will be trying to pick up points for their team, as they trail the Prairie Inn Harriers in the club standings through two events.

Upcoming series races include the Hatley Castle 8K on Feb. 24, the Bazan Bay 5K on March 10, Comox Valley Half Marathon on March 24, Merville 15K on April 7, and Sooke River 10K on April 21.
