Buccaneers, Storm face off in North Division final

The Nanaimo Buccaneers face off against the Campbell River Storm in the VIJHL’s North Division final starting tonight (March 8) up Island.

The junior B Nanaimo Buccaneers swept their first-round playoff series, but the next round is sure to be a tougher test.

The Bucs face off against the Campbell River Storm in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s North Division final starting tonight (March 8) up Island.

The Bucs beat the Comox Valley Glacier Kings four games to none in the first round, while the Storm needed six games to send the Saanich Braves packing.

The first-place Storm lost only six games over the course of the 48-game regular season, so beating them four out of seven will take an upset.

“We expect this next series to be a really tough series,” said Dan Lemmon, Bucs coach, last week.

GAME ON … The series has an unusual schedule of alternating home dates. After Game 1 in Campbell River tonight, Game 2 will be Thursday at 7:15 p.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre. For ticket information, please visit www.buccaneers.vijhl.com.
