Buccaneers beaten in double overtime

The Nanaimo Buccaneers lost 3-2 to the Campbell River Storm in junior B hockey playoff action on Tuesday night up Island.

The Bucs worked overtime, but couldn’t get the result they wanted in Game 1.

Trent Bell scored a game-tying goal with 25 seconds in regulation, Dawson Heathcote had a goal and an assist and John Hawthorne made 45 saves in defeat as the Bucs were outshot by a wide margin.

Mitchell Williams scored the game-winner for the Storm two and a half minutes into double overtime.

Game 2 is Thursday (March 9) at 7:15 p.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
