Brechin bowlers win provincials

Bowlers from Brechin Lanes knocked down a ton of pins at provincials.

Nanaimo’s five-pin centre had a sizable contingent at the Youth Bowling Canada B.C. championships in Kamloops last weekend and several locals returned with medals.

The big winners were Brendan Duperron, Tokoara Elliott and Jared Craven, who combined to win the boys’ combo team title. Coached by Kristina Zeabin, the three are now eligible to compete at nationals in Regina in May.

Winning silver at provincials was Josh Burgmann, in junior singles, and Jake Harder, Brandon Seabloom, Stephen Leynard and Riley Hayes in junior team competition. Mikayla Eby won bronze in bantam singles and Sommer Burgmann took bronze in junior singles.
