Border Battle kicks off under lights

NANAIMO – The Barsby Bulldogs and the Ballenas Whalers varsity football teams play their annual rivalry matchup Friday (Oct. 26).

There’s always something on the line in the Border Battle game, but this year, maybe there’s a little extra at stake.

The Barsby Bulldogs and the Ballenas Whalers varsity football teams play their annual rivalry matchup this Friday (Oct. 26). Barsby and Ballenas have separated themselves as the top teams in B.C. High School Football’s AA varsity Western Conference, with both posting perfect 4-0 records in league play.

It’s a rare Friday-night-lights high school football game in Nanaimo, with a 7 p.m. kickoff time at Beban Park’s Merle Logan Field. Admission is free.

GRID BITS … Barsby defeated Ballenas in last year's Border Battle game, 41-21.
