I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern over the labour action at Vancouver Island University.

Even though I support collective bargaining, and have benefitted from it myself in the past, at this point in the Vancouver Island University dispute, it would appear that this method is not working for the three parties involved, the faculty, the administration, and especially not for all the students.

As usual, the federal election campaign is taking the low road, launching an offensive blitz aimed at exploiting the Canadian public’s emotional hot buttons and pandering to our lowest common denominators.
