Verdict is in on climate change

To the Editor,

The jury is not out on climate change. The verdict is in.

The gold standard for scientific validity is widely peer-reviewed research. Thousands of credentialed climate scientists from 195 countries assess climate change. The contrarian deniers produce no such research. They are but a few talking heads in the pocket of big business.

Today’s greenhouse gas concentrations are the highest in the last 80,000 years, 90 per cent produced since the Industrial Revolution with its new machine manufacturing, new chemical and iron production processes.

Since then, energy production has been the fundamental issue that has caused and continues to cause our woes.

Stanford’s Dr. Mark Jacobson has showed convincingly that right today, we have the technology and expertise to 100 per cent solve our world energy problems relating to electricity, transportation, industry, and heating/cooling by 2030. Green, sustainable, solar and wind production alone could do it. Why do we not? Lack of political will driven by worldwide mega industrial-financial-political forces have too much capital committed to the old way.
