Taxpayers must show union who’s boss

B.C. taxpayers, via government, are always held for ransom by government employees

To the Editor,

Why are B.C. taxpayers, via government, always held for ransom, by government employees?

Presently in B.C., we have a Liberal government that has offered the BCGEU a 3.5-per cent wage increase over a two-year contract – two per cent in the first year and 1.5 per cent in the second year.

Not good enough for the BCGEU. They request 3.5 per cent in the first year, and a cost of living in the second year. Manitoba and Nova Scotia both have NDP governments and they are offering the government employees a two-year contract with zero wage increase, because of the poor economic times.

It’s about time that B.C. taxpayers show government employees who is the boss.
