Recreation helps seniors feel well

Exercise and social interaction costs nothing and keeps our seniors well and out of hospital.

To the Editor,

Re: Taking away senior citizens’ rec passes is insulting, Letters, Oct. 15.

As an 80-plus former healthcare professional, I too was surprised at the really stupid decision to consider dropping over-80 free rec passes.

The healthcare costs of seniors will likely double and hospitals will be crowded with seniors suffering from a variety of ills. It was the single best program implemented – exercise and social interaction costs nothing and keeps our seniors well and out of hospital.

One hopes common sense prevails and those free passes are retained.
