Recovery funded by supply

Addiction help should be for everyone.

To the Editor,

Re: Quit-smoking plan draws critics, Aug. 11.

If the government is going to start giving nicotine addicts nicotine patches, prescriptions, and gums to help them kick their habit, then why not start supplying the heroin and meth addicts with heroin patches and meth gum?

Because the government decides which drugs to legalize, to tax and then to feel socially responsible for.

I guess I’ll just have to hold out hope for a caffeine-addicts patch and an alcoholics pill and see if the government jumps to fund their recovery by supply, too.
