Re: Park improvement options explored, Aug. 11.
It would be nice to have a pier at the park for sure. I definitely do not want to see the park overwhelmed with extra things. Some of the art is really unsightly and should be removed; it’s useless and in the way. Fishing pier needs renovations too.
I enjoy concerts and music very much there.

It is great that we are maintaining and caring so much about Maffeo Sutton Park, but as a longtime resident of Departure Bay, I am very disappointed that the beach and seawall are grossly neglected. Nothing has been done in over 40 years. The seawall will finally (I will believe it when it happens) get work done this fall. But the level is so bad that one’s hips object to difference in level and if you are in wheelchair I am sure you would tip over. Lighting is outdated.
At one time it was the spot on the waterfront – until it got abandoned.
