More police investigation needed to try to combat fentanyl crisis

Are we as a society ready to accept that taking illicit drugs and risking death is normal and we should just accept this?

To the Editor,

Where is the sanity in our supposed civilized society? Why is it a driver sitting at a red light texting his wife a love note can be fined for a criminal act and a drug dealer selling death on the streets in the form of fentanyl hides in the shadows of our police officers? Why is it that some drug addict can easily find a drug dealer for a hit of heroin or fentanyl and yet we never hear about an arrest of an entrepreneurial drug retailer?

Are we as a society ready to accept that taking illicit drugs and risking death is normal and we should just accept this without interception? Drug addicts require help, not supervised consumption or a recovery bed in our overcrowded hospital.

If a kitchen’s tap leaks, you have two choices, put a cup under it or replace the washer. Choose one.

Let’s stop the insanity and put these drug dealers in jail. About 25 people died from using fentanyl in Nanaimo last year. How many have died from texting?
