Linley Valley no place for road

Linley Valley is a critical link in a fragile ecosystem of cliffs, woodlands and wetlands areas that are a habitat for at-risk species.

To the Editor,

Citizens should be aware that the city is considering the construction of a roadway on the existing walkway from Rutherford Road to Linley Valley Drive.

This pathway and associated wetlands were protected under strict guidelines set by the city in accordance with the policy to maintain such green areas in the Linley Valley for use by all citizens of Nanaimo.

A Linley Valley Drive exit onto Rutherford Road will cause traffic congestion.

This access to Linley Valley is a critical link in a fragile ecosystem of cliffs, woodlands and wetlands areas that are an important habitat for at-risk species. This area is currently enjoyed by many people in Nanaimo.
