To the editor,
If I had a child in the school system right now, I would be insisting that seat belts be installed on all school buses. There was an excellent documentary on the Fifth Estate recently about what happens to the children inside when a bus crashes. They go flying all over the place, just as they do in any vehicle. They are far more likely to be seriously injured or killed. The Ministry of Transportation had a report years ago that show seat belts make buses safer, yet ruled against having them installed in school buses.
Lives are being lost and others permanently injured for the lack of shoulder belts on buses. Make your voices heard; speak up for those too young to speak for themselves.
