To the editor,

Could this be why we need the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange?

A call was made to a local recycling facility inquiring about whether they take empty propane bottles. The guy on the phone says he does not know and provides me with the number of Recycle B.C. to call to find out. That number is out of service.

A call to a second local recycling facility provides me with the info that yes, they do take them. But no, the guy on the phone does not know if they charge. However, if I call another facility, they will know if his facility charges.

Call to the other facility yields the info they not only do they not take empty propane bottles, but also that they are not connected with the facility I just called.

A cry for help posted on Facebook page yields conflicting info along with a potential lead. When I call the number listed on the company website, it’s out of service.

Hello Mr. Kafka. What do you do with your used propane bottles?

Lois Peterson, Nanaimo
