To the editor,

Greetings to all voters in Nanaimo, Ladysmith and Oceanside.

I believe the provincial election should and could be won on best plans and commitments to address health care, homelessness, drug addiction and housing. Regarding homelessness and addiction in our in our ridings, and the province, the situation is ridiculous and getting worse.

To candidates in the Ladysmith, Nanaimo, and Oceanside ridings, I ask the following: What is your community-specific plan for Qualicum, Nanaimo, Parksville and Ladysmith for infrastructure such as shelters, supportive housing, in-patient rehabilitation, mental health treatment and social housing? Have you consulted city councillors, city staff, RDN and experts to support your plan? Is your plan based on best practices and focused on stabilization and recovery? Does your party support the capital budget for your plan? Most importantly, tell us the goals and timeline for your plan. Upcoming all-candidates’ meetings and local media are excellent forums to present your plan.

I encourage all voters to contact your candidates to share their plan, via phone, e-mail and in person.

Bobby Peters, Parksville
