LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Nanaimo’s rhododendrons beautiful

Rhododendron grove in Bowen Park worth visiting each spring, says letter writer

To the editor,

In our lovely city, May was rhododendron month. Gorgeous blooming bushes here and there are cheering our hearts, but the loveliest surprise is at the Hailey Rhododendron Grove at Bowen Park just opposite the tennis courts.

The park is absolutely bursting in rhododendron blossoms that were re-planted from a private garden some 25 years ago to Nanaimo and to VanDusen Botanical Garden and Stanley Park in Vancouver.

This gem of Nanaimo is unfortunately not to be found on any maps, but well worth your visit, especially at this time of the year.

Rosina Schmidt, Nanaimo
