To the editor,

Maffeo Sutton Park’s new Nanaimo sign is an immediate danger to young children. There is nothing wrong with the sign itself except it is a trap for young children.

I have attended the park twice and children between the ages of five and eight climb to the top and walk or run around the top. If they were to fall off the top, they would land on the concrete slab. I assume not without serious injuries. If they fell into certain letters, I assume they would incur some sort of injuries.

At any case, the city will be held responsible. It’s just a matter of time.

Barry Hewett, Nanaimo
