LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Monarchy should unite us

An ‘activist monarch’ sounds like a terrible idea, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: Queen’s death moves monarchy into transition, Editorial, Sept. 28.

An “activist monarch” sounds like a terrible idea. You might like the idea when they use their influence to support a cause you approve of, but what happens when they support a different cause? Then it is just an unelected elite pushing their personal interests.

The monarch should focus on representing that which is common to all, and bringing people together, not pushing any particular agenda.
