Motorcycle noise disturbs otherwise enjoyable evenings, says letter writer. (Stock photo)

Re: Motorcycle noise grating, Letters, Aug. 24.

I agree with the letter regarding the high noise generated by some motorcycles. Last Friday night my wife and I were enjoying a lovely dinner at one of the patio restaurants on Commercial Street until four people on Harleys decided to run a circuit through downtown. During the three times they passed, conversation was impossible, but what really bothered us was the RCMP constables parked on the street totally ignoring their antics (soundproof cruiser?)

Our downtown has potential but we have to make it an enjoyable experiece for all to share.

The letter writer made a good point about motorcycle noise but he did not take it far enough. There a lot of cars (hot rods) also with souped-up mufflers that are just as loud and annoying. The city has signs warning truckers not to use engine brakes in some areas but do nothing about much more noise from hot rods and motorcycles. Lets see some more policing of these very disturbing noise makers.
