Re: Homelessness projections confirm crisis situation, Opinion, Sept. 11.
‘Housing first plus’ is not a right. Your guest columnist is wrong. And it does not work for those so mentally troubled and drug addicted who are actually living on the street, as they cannot cope with voluntarily living in a home environment. And many have been kicked out of shelters and social housing because they have attacked staff or fellow residents. You cannot imagine how many staff have been hurt by out-of-control individuals and the number of staff out on post-traumatic stress disorder.
Many law-abiding citizens are having an extremely tough time making ends meet these days because of high grocery, gas and tax bills. We should be the ones getting housing first.
