To the editor,
Re: Look for ways to make our workplaces safer, Editorial, April 27.
No Canadian should be injured, made sick, or die just because they had to go to work to support themselves and their families.
Current workplace health and safety provisions are failing us. There are too many unnecessary deaths in the workplace. The pandemic has only helped to expose the lack of protections. I’m concerned for my family, friends, and co-workers – and for the future generations of workers who will follow us.
Too many Canadians have suffered preventable injury, illness, and death because politicians and leaders have failed to act in time, or with enough force to negligent employers.
We can’t let their stories die with them. We can’t let their deaths be in vain.
Every worker should be able to go to work without fear. Every worker should return to their loved ones safely from their shift.
