A sinkhole in Nanoose Bay would have been more problematic, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: Highway sinkhole stalls traffic, Nov. 24.

When that sinkhole opened up on Highway 19 at Superior Road in Lantzville last month, driving through the area definitely became more difficult. But we should be thankful it occurred precisely where it did. Had that sinkhole opened up just a few kilometres away in Nanoose Bay, it would have completely cut the north Island off from the south Island and motor vehicle traffic between the two parts of the Island would have had to detour via the Sunshine Coast.
