To the editor,

Re: Former homeless camp ‘dump site’ cleaned up along Millstone River, Aug. 21.

Hooray for Jeff Callaghan! But he’s not the only one picking up garbage. I recently moved into an apartment on Prideaux Street near Barsby Park and discovered this very nice place along the Millstone River. The campers, who shouldn’t be there in the first place, leave their litter after they leave. Sometimes it is pretty messy.

I take my dog for walks every morning and evening. After she finishes doing her ‘duty,’ I pick it up in a plastic bag and carry on, while in the meantime, I pick up cigarette butts, cups, candy wrappers, needles, broken glass, and anything I can, until I have two hands full of garbage, and then I put it in a garbage can. I do this on a daily basis only to find more messes the next day. While doing so, I have met others cleaning the park.

Perhaps we could start a movement towards a new, natural, clean environment, just like before these litterers messed it up. I like clean, natural places.
