To the editor,
I feel that the City of Nanaimo and certain businesses are not welcoming tourists when they visit Nanaimo.
Recently I have seen signs stating ‘no overnight parking’ at the malls and also other locations. I see nothing wrong with tourists travelling in their RVs wanting to save a little money. I do not blame the tourists travelling on through when they see unwelcome signs like those.
My husband and I have enjoyed many road trips and have wanted to stop just for the night. We have been so pleased to feel welcomed to spend the night at the mall, etc. At times, on rare occasions, we see a ‘no overnight parking’ sign and we carry right on through to the next town or city.
Tourists want to feel welcomed. It seems to me that Nanaimo does not want to do business with the tourists.
