To the editor,
Negative attack ads are a dirty, desperate political tactic to get you hating the opposition through anger and divisiveness – period. Neither the party nor the media outlet care that it affects you, the listener, on a visceral level like a stab in the gut.
It matters not the content, only that it is a repetitive message reaching your subconscious mind while you are working or otherwise engaged. It is an embellishment of something taken out of context and meant to turn you against the competition.
They’re geared to cause thought distortions in you, so you subconsciously believe something that isn’t true, like a malicious kind of gossip.
These politicians deliberately drag you out of your peaceful afternoon drive and throw you into their nasty toxic world. They manipulate you to feel depressed, anxious and fearful about someone else, which is an insult to your intelligence.
The best you can do at that moment is turn off the radio lest you get dragged into an argument that really is all about them, not you.
Then find something to get yourself out of that headspace and feel good again in your own space. Life is too short for this kind of misery.
