Re: Newcastle park offers potential, Editorial, July 21.
Newcastle Island is one of the absolute gems of the Coastal Salish Islands. It keeps this status because it is not developed.
I agree that a traditional long house could be a showcase for First Nations people and provide visitors a chance to experience a beautiful artistic culture. May I suggest that it does not always have to be about money as the Snuneymuxw people move forward in their plans with B.C. Parks and the City of Nanaimo?
And, one last question – if there is a fire on the island, who responds and what is the plan?
