Forget foot ferry, let’s build a bridge

All we need is a government that is not afraid to tackle the much-needed task and get rid of B.C. Ferries.

To the Editor,

Re: Residents asked for input into ferry proposal, Oct. 24.

We have been fighting to get the price down on B.C. Ferries for quite awhile now, and they just keep raising it, and here comes a few investors that want to start a foot ferry to Vancouver, at a cost twice as much as walk ons for B.C. Ferries. Are we benefiting from this? I think not.

Vancouver Islanders should only have to pay one way; the extra couple of miles from Horseshoe Bay to Vancouver harbour is not sufficient mileage to warrant the extra cost of $15 per person. I cannot see it succeeding at $30 a head.

A bridge would be more realistic, $30-$50 a car, all we need is a government that is not afraid to tackle the much-needed task and get rid of B.C. Ferries.
