Re: Indoor farmers’ market closer to opening, June 18.
Board members of the Nanaimo Downtown Farmers’ Market Society would like to express their surprise at a photo of Suzanne Mackinnon of Sue’s Jams (a member of our market) included with the article on the proposed indoor market.
We would like to make it clear our market is in no way connected to this venture.
Also, we question the statement,“Some new farmers have been turned away because there isn’t enough demand for their products.”
Our market is in its 16th year of existence and has never turned away a farmer.
In fact, we welcome all farmers and even backyard growers.
