District not at fault on school field trips

Re: District fails to allay fears over future of field trips, Nov. 10.

To the Editor,

Re: District fails to allay fears over future of field trips, Nov. 10.

Once again the school district is being made to look like the scapegoat if field trips are cancelled due to a teachers’ strike.

If even one child was injured on a trip that was improperly supervised, I am sure the parents would hold the school district responsible. Since administrators are already doing extra work that teachers normally do, to suggest that they go on a field trip instead of the teachers is not reasonable.

The teachers say that they are not hurting the education of the students, but all of us remember field trips as excellent learning occasions.

As for the parents who are pushing the board to allow the trips, how about pushing the teachers to stop their strike?
