Development is a travesty

The way that the City of Nanaimo is allowing development in the north end is an absolute travesty.

The way that the City of Nanaimo is allowing development in the north end is an absolute travesty. There is clear-cutting happening in the most biodiverse wetland area left.

Every day there is the extreme noise from drilling, blasting of the cliffs, and excavators working. One can hear this noise from as far away as the top of the transmission towers so imagine the impact it is having on nesting birds. The type of development that is going on in Linley Valley West right now should never have been given the green light as this area is a sensitive habitat to over 46 species of nesting birds.

The people of Nanaimo want these lands protected from further clear-cuts and destruction. Once it is gone, it is gone forever and Nanaimo will have lost a jewel in its midst.
