To the Editor,
The City of Nanaimo needs to redraw the Harewood Neighbourhood Plan to include Colliery Dam Park.
This vibrant green space/eco system – of which the lakes are a integral part – needs to be preserved.
It is obvious that, for reasons not being explained, the Dam Safety Branch is imposing standards for these two 100-year-old structures that are far higher any other standards in the province.
Nanaimo’s mayor and council have had more than enough time to examine the options.
They know how the residents feel about this issue, so it’s time for them to act with a sense of purpose and put this matter to rest.
