Country’s future is in renewables

The fossil fuel industry would have disappeared years ago if not for the billions of dollars in government subsidies it receives.

To the Editor,

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is opposed to any carbon pricing and may obstruct the process of creating one in Canada. Fortunately the Trudeau government has a solution to bring the Walls in line. As many economists have pointed out, the fossil fuel industry would have disappeared years ago if not for the billions of dollars in government subsidies it receives.

We could remove all subsidies to oil companies operating in Saskatchewan.

It would be good for our economy if these subsidies were reduced to zero anyway. Whether the presumed marketplace provides a balance or not, the future’s in renewables.
