Council created public discontent

NANAIMO – Re: Council unmoved on dam destruction despite impassioned speakers, June 13.

To the Editor,

Re: Council unmoved on dam destruction despite impassioned speakers, June 13.

Why don’t those in power listen to taxpayers?

Do they magically become superior to the very folk they’ve promised to represent?

Is it most city councilors are afraid to question staff who really run the city –  untouchable, but certainly are not elected?

It is time for change with the way governments are set up in this province and this country.

We have seen what happened in Europe, the Middle East and now Turkey when the people are not heard.

The standing-room only crowd which packed Nanaimo’s council chamber last week proves we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take this anymore.

The number of closed-door decisions, hidden facts, half-truths and now threat of jail upon its citizens must end.

Those in power  – they know who they are – have indeed created a summer of discontent.
