Cost of gasoline ruins Family Day

NANAIMO – Gas stations bump up price when holiday focus is on saving people money.

To the Editor,

A while back, there was a column in this paper about thanking our local gas stations (Re: Lower gas prices a sound of silence, Opinion, Nov. 10.).

OK, well … thank you. Thank you for being the opportunistic bottom feeders that you are.

While businesses and government agencies all over this province helped us celebrate Family Day with offerings of free activities or reduced to half-price, our local gas stations took this occasion to raise the prices seven to 10 cents per litre.

While others were trying to help families celebrate their togetherness, our local gas stations did everything in their power to make it difficult.

And please do not offer that lame, old, worn-out excuse of oil barrel prices. I could travel 15 minutes to Ladysmith and get gas at $1.08/litre.
