Conference centre hits right note with guests

NANAIMO – Out-of-town guests consider VICC a 'fabulous facility.'

To the Editor,

I took part in the B.C. Choral Federation Chorfest – a three-day choral festival last month open to singers from around the province and hosted by Nanaimo Sings.

The singers ranged in age from children to seniors who travelled from around the province to take part in the workshops, rehearsals and festivities in our city.

The first two days were held at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre and the final day at the Port Theatre.

Throughout the weekend I heard frequent comments from out-of-town guests about the fabulous facilities at the conference centre. People were impressed with the meeting/rehearsal rooms, with the spaciousness of the facility, the excellent meals and the easy parking.

They were also pleased to be able to access downtown just outside the doors of the centre and many took advantage of free hours to shop or have a meal.

The store and restaurant owners were extremely welcoming and the Empire Days parade was in full swing the afternoon of our concert, providing extra vitality to the downtown area.
