Re: Communication manager a waste of taxpayers’ money, Letters, Aug. 16.
I couldn’t agree more with Gary Korpan’s comment regarding the waste of money for the city to hire what is virtually a spin doctor.
Good two-way communication with councillors and senior staff should be forthright and easy. There are times when the council looks good and times when it most definitely does not. A communications manager will do nothing beyond accentuating the former and minimizing the latter, and we, the taxpayers, are supposed to see value in this?
Most Nanaimoites could rattle off a bunch of examples where money wasting and obfuscation regarding same come in a single package.
It seems that the major change brought about by this new hire will be the professionalism with which we will now be snowed.
