Re: City council divided on water lands, July 13.
Nanaimo is in a very special and unique position to be a world-class destination if the land at Colliery dams and the old reservoir area would become the best campground on Vancouver Island. Start small, think big.
Right now a family can’t find a park to set a tent or park and RV. Think opportunity.
Consider that land for RV sites, truck camper and trailer sites plus tent sites. An amphitheatre for plays in the day and music at night. Food trucks and even a souvenir shop. A theme park for kids’ rides, maybe even a roller coaster. The area is perfect for outdoor hikers and bikers. Have target and trap shooting, an area for monster truck and motocross shows, horse shows and wagon rides. The options are endless.
