City’s parking system problematic

I suggest eliminating the parking department and its employees, allow downtown parking on the honour system.

To the Editor,

Nearly $500,000 per year to collect how much in parking fines? That is the real question. I suggest eliminating the parking department and its employees, allow downtown parking on the honour system and have the city bylaw enforcement officers empty the parking meters. Most people are honest and will pay for their parking; it’s just not worth it to chase the rest for $500,000 per year.
