City can’t afford wishlist projects like a stadium

I too have a wishlist for Nanaimo, however, it doesn’t include a new football stadium or even a paddling centre.

To the Editor,

Re: Councillors identify top projects, June 9.

I too have a wishlist for Nanaimo, however, it doesn’t include a new football stadium or even a paddling centre just because it fits right in with this dream for a new Nanaimo all conceived by those spendthrift politicians who still love to continually flush the Nanaimo taxpayers’ money right down the toilet on non-essential items and subsidization.

In all, this desperate need for frivolously extravagant items, especially a lot more so these days with a still very hard-hitting economic recession, is not only gluttonous, but also just not morally right.

Finally, my wishlist would include giving Mayor Bill McKay and Coun. Diane Brennan pink slips and then restoring common sense back into Nanaimo politics.
