Bridge might put an end to Gabriola's complaints

I would whole-heartedly support them if they stood up and accepted a bridge to their precious island.

To the Editor,

Re: Gabriola Island residents protest ferry reductions, Jan. 21.

Gabriola Island has always had a problem with living up to the times, and B.C. Ferries has always been a problem for them. They complain about the ferry cost, they complain when there was a bridge recommended and now they are complaining about a possible ferry cutback on their run.

I for one am getting sick and tired of supporting and subsidizing their way of life through my tax dollars.

I would whole-heartedly support them if they stood up and accepted a bridge to their precious island. Let’s face it, it would be more beneficial as far as real estate goes, and getting on and off the island would be much easier, and a bridge could be built very easily close to Dodd Narrows; the water is shallow there and close to the island. A win-win situation, getting to and from work, kids’ activities, shopping, real estate enhancement, and much more.

You would be able to control your life with out waiting or rushing to a ferry. Get with the times, residents of Gabriola, and this will cut down on your complaining.
