Bike lanes unsafe, confusing

What a design fiasco the new parking/bike lane along Boundary Avenue is.

To the Editor,

What a design fiasco the new parking/bike lane along Boundary Avenue is. This ill-conceived design is a safety hazard to both cyclists and vehicle operators. Vehicles parked a lane width from the curb place cyclists at risk from passenger doors opening, and drivers at risk having to cross the bike lane to get to the sidewalk. If this is the best the city engineering department can produce, a review is necessary.

The unnecessary expenditure on this project has created a safety hazard, and it will only be a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.

These funds could have been utilized to provide sidewalks in the many areas of the city lacking same.

To the Editor,

Could someone please explain to me the meaning and/or proper usage of the new white road markings along Boundary Avenue? There seems to be abrupt changes and crossovers. Also there are new small cement islands to watch out for. I wonder how they will be welcomed when we have snow removal to contend with.
