BOUQUET To all the volunteers at Stone Soup. Thank you for the love and support you give each person who comes and has a meal nightly. Bouquet to Gaylene and her kitchen crew, who make the awesome soup, so yummy and always different every week.

BEEF Try and get a referral from your doctor to see a psychiatrist. Time how long it takes. I’ve been waiting since October.

BOUQUET To Dillon at Zumiez for helping me find the right size sweater for my daughter. When they didn’t have the right size he helped me order it online and have it shipped to me in one business day. Excellent customer service. Thank you!

BEEF To the increasing numbers of cyclists, of all ages, riding on the sidewalks. It is bad enough for pedestrians to safely get across crosswalks and intersections, now we have to dodge cyclists on the sidewalks.

BOUQUET To whoever sent a crew from the city to mitigate a groundwater issue that resulted in ice at the bottom of our driveway above the drainage ditch and out into the street every winter.

BEEF To the man in the white truck at the north-end mall parking lot. About 15 people saw you hit my silver car. You left a note with a bogus phone number and no area code. Report this so I don’t have to pay for your mistake.

BOUQUET To all the lovely people including Pete who stopped to make sure I was OK when my van broke down pulling out of the Nanaimo Golf Club. One kind gentleman even pushed me to the side of the road. This is why I love living in Nanaimo.

BEEF To the corporate landlord who purchased our apartment complex. Your shearing off of lower branches of property trees has killed and dried the natural understory bushes beneath. You’re creating a fire hazard that is making tenants nervous. These are our homes – be careful!

BOUQUET To Kat at the Shaw Cable front counter. Your service, smile and understanding really made my transaction go so much smoother than I expected. You are a true treasure to the world of customer service. Thank you and hope you enjoyed that wedding.

BOUQUET To all the people who stopped to help the lady who fell in the parking lot in Harewood. Thank you so much and God bless you. I did fracture my hip but I am doing fine.

BEEF Buyer beware to the dealership offering detailing deals that include engine shampooing. Blew my alternator, battery and now having air-conditioner problems. When I asked them about power washing under the hood rather than degreasing fluid they denied that it could have damaged the electronics.

BOUQUET To Lavonne of One Hour Dry Cleaning for a job well done. A special thanks for your extra service. We always love doing business with you. You are very capable and always so pleasant.

BEEF To the company that parks their commercial vehicles on a residential street. They refuse to move them even when complained about.

BOUQUET To the lovely lady in the Alia N Tanjay shop in Woodgrove. She is so very helpful and can always come up with what my daughter and I are looking for. She is a real asset to the business.

BEEF The city must put up rumble strips or speed bumps on Uplands Drive to slow down traffic going past the mall. There are lots of school kids and seniors crossing Uplands, which is very dangerous. Please install speed bumps before someone gets killed.

BOUQUET To Jantzen Drywall. Eric just completed a challenging patch job for me and you can’t see it at all. His work is very professional and high quality. I recommend him highly.

BOUQUET Just a big shout out to Richard of Arbutus Music. This is a business that knows the meaning of community service; he has helped our rugby club keep our sound system up and running at a moments notice – he and Arbutus are the epitome of community-focused business. Thank you.

BOUQUET To the VIU ESL teacher and students. They found my wallet on Newcastle Island and kindly returned it to me.

BOUQUET To the wonderful volunteers at Global Village Nanaimo fair trade store which popped up the last two weeks of April in Nanaimo North Town Centre. We look forward to seeing you in the Christmas store. Great job!

BOUQUET To the beautiful ladies at Rexall on Bowen Road and Cpl. Reim from the RCMP and his lovely wife. My daughter’s bike was almost stolen and you all came to her aid to stop the thief from taking her bike. I am beyond grateful you all were there that day.

BOUQUET To our neighbour Tony – he has gone above and beyond beautifying the boulevard on Norton Road.

BOUQUET A very special thank you to ‘Grouse-Grind Sheila.’ You went way beyond stepping up to help us resolve our situation by providing a piggyback for one of us to the top of the steep hill at Westwood Lake.
